Microstad Eindhoven

Repurposing a former KPN building
2023/24
Eindhoven

The former KPN building in Eindhoven, 20,000 m2, is being repurposed with multiple new functions and given a new name: Microstad. Space will be provided for events, offices, workshops, a club, education, and more. Essentially everything you would find in a 'real' city. Microcity is a new concept where two existing companies, Microlab & De Stadstuin, collaborate.

The building is located in the heart of Eindhoven and is part of the new urban developments. It is a complex building originally designed for a single purpose, accommodating multiple functions proves to be a (financial) challenge. It is a wonderful example of looking at things from a new perspective.

This project is divided in multiple subjects, each can be visited on this website at different pages:

Microstad Eindhoven: interior & exterior

Microstad Eindhoven: Summa Fashion

Microstad EIndhoven: Wayfinding

Finding beauty where others see a useless heap of concrete

Rethinking the outdoor area

Eventspaces

Freshly minted event spaces nestled within the building's former logistics area. The venue comprises multiple meeting rooms and a spacious welcoming area.

Entrance

A new entrance has been built to greet the incoming users of Microstad. The design features vibrant colors paired with the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
