About me
My name is Bruno Slagboom and I am a spatial designer focused on bringing new purpose to vacant buildings.
Photography grants me the opportunity to reconsider and reframe imposing concrete structures, often labeled as ‘ugly.’ This challenge is reflected in my role as a designer, where I navigate between scales—both large and small—to make global themes more digestible. By downsizing large-scale issues, I contribute from a local perspective to broader issues.
My original fascination with concrete has transformed from mere photographic admiration to an urgent call for careful consideration of existing structures in the Netherlands, a significant portion of which is vacant or hastily demolished. My goal is to minimize demolition and draw from existing structures, emphasizing the importance of a innovative perspective. In recent years, my design activities have primarily focused on vacant buildings.

Most of the projects I undertake have a temporary nature, with durations ranging from 3 to 10 years. They are characterized by tight budgets and tight deadlines.
My main responsibilities include gathering information from clients, conceptual development, visualization, presentation, and projectmanagement, encompassing budget management, planning, and communication.
